How to Play & Strategy

1. Enter Your Guess: Type a 5-letter word or use the on-screen keyboard.

2. Avoid the Word: Unlike other word games, you're trying to avoid the secret word. The closer your guess is to it, the more damage you take. Survive all twenty attempts and win the day!

3. Watch Your HP: 🟢 Green = Safe (0 damage)  |  🟠 Orange = In the word, wrong place (-1 HP, disables 1 key)  |  🔴 Red = Direct hit (-2 HP, disables 2 keys)

4. Healing: Guess three consecutive fully-green (all-safe) words in a row and recover 1 HP. The streak resets if any orange or red letter appears, or once you heal.

5. Keyboard Rot: Every orange or red letter you hit permanently disables a random safe key — weighted toward the most common letters. Choose your words wisely!

6. Daily Challenge: A new word appears every day at midnight ET.

🧠 Survival Strategy Guide

In this game, orange and red matches are TOXIC — they cost you HP!

  1. Multiple Instances (Friend or Foe): Avoid double letters until you know they are safe; they cause massive multi-hit damage. However, once a letter is confirmed 🟢 Green (0 damage), use it as a shield by picking words that repeat it as much as possible.
  2. Hunt the Obscure: Start with rare letters (X, Z, Q, J) to map out safe zones without taking damage.
  3. The Red Minefield: A 🔴 Red match costs 2 HP. If you know a letter's correct spot, avoid placing it there at all costs!
  4. Sacrifice for Info: Sometimes it's worth taking 1 damage (🟠 Orange) to confirm a letter is "Poison," helping you avoid it in later rounds.
  5. Watch the Squeeze: As more letters turn toxic, your available vocabulary shrinks. Save your "safe" vowels for the final rounds.
  6. Keyboard Rot: Each 🟠 Orange hit permanently disables one random key; each 🔴 Red hit disabled two. Common letters (R, S, T, L, N, E, A, D) are more likely targets — protect them by avoiding words that risk those positions.
  7. Healing Streak: String together three consecutive fully-green guesses (zero damage, all letters safe) to recover 1 HP. The streak resets the moment any orange or red letter appears, so plan your all-safe words in sequence.
